I thought I would write a bit about my current master league progress (offline). I am in charge of Blackburn Rovers. I knew it was not going to be easy to play using this team, but using Rovers as my team was an obvious choice due to supporting them my whole life!
Before I started my campaign, I decided to start a different campaign with a higher club to check if there were any differences with the difficulty. My first thought would have been YES because of the strength of the team itself. Comparing players was the clincher. But what about the finances? In the previous master league's, you always started with the same amount of cash, regardless of the team. In respect of that, I thought you may have the same with this version of the master league. Was I right? NO! Take Manchester Utd for instance. This was the team I originally started with. Their initial budget was around the £170 million mark. Quite a lot if you ask me. So how much did I receive with Blackburn? Around £70 million. That's quite a difference, and with the value of the players, you would find it hard to sell any for decent amounts that would allow you to buy a decent player. This is all played at Top Player level by the way.
Well initial thoughts on my progress within the master league is that it would be hard. Very hard in fact. In the first month of playing, your costs for the year were going to be taken out of your cash. So £50 million was my costs, leaving me with £20 million.
I know now that I would have to make another £30 million to be in with a shot of not going bankrupt in my first season. Well at first my campaign did not go well. I lost a few, not by much, but I was not scoring either. I did manage to get a few draws, but my win ratio was not looking good. I had to do something!
So I played about with the team a bit and managed to get a few wins, even a 2-0 against Chelsea! That was a very hard game, but defensively I was solid!
Well the transfer window arrived at the end of December, bringing a flurry of offers for some of my players. Some were for my only decent players and to be quite frank, the offers were only mounting up to a couple of mil! I tried signing Iniesta on loan and was told that he would sign for £14 million for a year plus his wages! Well to be honest, I could not afford it. I tried closer to home and found Wright Phillips who was valued at around £2 million. When I received word back, they wanted £20 million plus his wages! My last attempt was Malouda who was on the transfer list. This time I heard £11 million plus the wages, which to be honest was the only decent player I could get for the money I could pay out. So I signed him. I then sold Diouff, Chimbonda and Nelson, just to make the money back up and I am now up to £54 million, but my squad had shortened.
My results however have been better and I am close to a Europa place and edging closer to the top spots.
It is early in the second half of the season, so hopefully I will find my form and be able to top the league.
One last note too, I am in the semi-finals of the FA cup, so this surely should bring me more money if I win, shouldn't it? Only time will tell!
I enjoyed reading this. It must of been difficult with Blackburn as the English league is tough. I am arsenal because I support them. I love masters league, it's all about brains. I have got a dilemma though. I am in my second season and I bought over 4 players and my budget is 21million. I negotiated with juan mata and he wants to come. But he costs 18 million. The only thing I could do is wait until My budget progresses and buy him on the deadline date. Or hopefully a team offers a mammoth deal for one of my players. I could reject mata because I have good creative midfielders like hamsik, fabregas, nasri. But he will add to quality I guess. And hopefully this should help to eradicate my lack of goals scored! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think
Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteI am glad there are others that are enjoying their offline master league modes.
I knew it was going to be hard with Blackburn as they don't have much in the way of a start up budget, but in the same respect, they still have a few decent players which can be sold to buy some players that can build the squad.
I started out in the second division to try and get promoted. My aim was to win as many as I could and gain all the revenue I could which is one of the objectives of the game.
My second season also, showed that I did not have much money to buy new players. I would say Mata is a decent buy, but with your already decent squad, it may help to buy 2 or 3 players with the money you would spend on mata. This would help you to have a bigger squad in case you need players to swap around for rests etc. Another thought would be to promeote some youth team members. This of course helps if you promoted them in your first season.
The whole focus in PES 2011 master league, as in most football games does not revolve totally around playing the games to win and get revenue. You also need to think like you are running a business. Promoting youth team members just to leave them without games does not work. If you promote them and list them for loan, you also get revenue back and keep the players after the loan spells. This improves the players stats because they are gaining experience from playing. In a few seasons you could use them yourself or sell them if you get a good price.
As for buying players, you do have a good team already. You should by a few players that can help fill gaps if you need subs, but also to put on loan and bring revenue back to the club. The younger the player with decent stats, the better. This way you can keep them for a good ten years before you use them, yourself or sell them at a decent profit.
So in respect of your need for Mata, I would say......do you really need to spend that amount on a player with your team stats now, or can you afford to buy a few players to build your funds for next season?
At the end of the day, your master league runs how you want it to, but one decision could mean you are out of pocket for most of the following season if the player does not do what you hoped for your team.
I tried to buy well known players in my second season, but could not afford them due to Blackburn's budget. I had won many things, but by the third season, I had tripled my funds from the sale of a couple of decent blackburn players and the loan of some youth and players that i had previously purchased. This helped me to strengthen areas in my squad that i need the past few seasons.
I hope this helps and you manage to get the players you desire. Good luck in your campaign.
Thanks for the reply. I will take your advice in relation to mata and wait another season as it were. Sorry for the small reply. If I think of anything I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteIf you have xbox360 my gamertag is U A I P.
No problem. I like to reply to any comments I receive on the blog.
ReplyDeleteIn relation to adding you on xbox, I am afraid at the moment I can't as I play on ps3 . I am however considering purchasing an xbox at some point before Xmas and hope to get involved in that community also.

Bob
Gibbs left and I bougt him back. When I bought him back he came with a severe injury. As he recovered I played him a week later and now he is sidelined for up to 2-5 months because of training. The point is why for so long.
ReplyDeleteAny ideas?
I have had the same problem with some of my players. I sold palmieri then bought him back 2 seasons later. In the whole time he was on my team - no problems. When he came back, he hadn't had an injury as far as i knew, but 2 games into signing back, he ends up getting injured in training and was out for 6 months!
ReplyDeleteI think the problem here is Konami. They tried to make PES 2011 realistic in situations like this to give you certain scenarios. This is why it is good to have spare players in certain positions.
Unfortunately having these injuries crop up is a problem for anyone plaing ML. My only option would be to sign a decent coach and doctor for the team, but also have the spare players to cover any unforseen injuries.
I have noticed though, that the better doctor you have, the quicker the players seem to recover, but also the less the injuries occur. This may not be true, but just an assumption.
I hope this helps and thanks for the comment.
Just to let you kno. I bought mata. But I let fabregas go to barca for 72mil.....what a coincidence ey Lool. I shall get iniesta (who is currently at inter....never happen in real life). I requested for iniesta but it was 70mil to buy him and I only had 7mil to spend..now I am ok!
ReplyDeleteIf iniesta does accept for the second time I will get him,.,,sell one of players n buy fabregas back..
How r u getting on
Thanks for the update and I am glad you have managed to resolve your player issues.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem coincidence about Fabregas and Barca, lol. Iniesta seems a good buy, and I hope you manage to get him and manage to get Fabregas back then you certainly seem to have a decent midfield line up to work from.
I have not updated my progress for my master league (offline) for a while, but here is teh info in brief...... I have a full 11 player squad that consists of all players over 100ovr apart from the keeper who is 98. My subs and other players consist of 2-3 over 100 ovr rated players, 70% of the others are between 93 and 98ovr and the rest are in the high 80's. The 90's are used if any players are out injured, or for squad rotation. The 80's are used occasionally or for loan purposes, gaining experience for selling at a later date.
Funds are at around 600mil, so I am not short of cash, and I have played about 7-8 seasons, winning all competitions apart from the Europa league. I did win the Europa league in my first season, but since then I have been in the champions league each year.
Because of the strength of the team, I have decided to pick up an early master league campaign I started at the same time. This keeps me fresh and makes me work harder as I like a challenge. I will probably play this occasionally, till the demo of PES 2012 comes out.
I wish you all the best in your master league my friend.
ROLL ON 2012!
